Autoglym Lifeshine?

Featured Replies

We recently purchased a 69 plate Kodiaq in Moon white metallic and as part of the deal the Skoda dealer applied the Autoglym Lifeshine products to the car. However they obviously didn't prep the paintwork properly and there are swirls in the paintwork and what looks like spots of dirt under the ceramic coating. The paintwork doesn't bead up particularly well when wet. Just wondered if anyone else has had this applied and if there were issues were they sorted out. I have spoken to Autoglym technical and they have said to return it to the dealer to have the issues rectified. Have spoken to the service manager and will be taking it in next week so it will be interesting to see what they say. Not holding my breath though.

Dealers PDI teams never apply these “life” products correctly; they’re not trained and in any event, they simply don’t have the time.
i have some experience of these products. I had Diamondbrite applied by JewelUltra to the MKI in 2006 after Benfield in Harrogate (I think that Lookers lot bought them out) completely ruined the application. I have to say that was an amazing product, but it took the guy a full 8 hours to apply it. I continued to keep topping it up as per the instructions right upto the time I parted with it 15 years later.
I applied Lifeshine on our MKII and it was pretty good, but in the end, I removed it, bought a DA, reapplied it and then continued to top it up with Poorboys and other products.
I’ve not bothered to apply Lifeshine to the MKIII, as it was in fantastic condition. I clayed and DA’d it when I first bought it and I’ve tried a number of products to maintain the paint. Poorboys Natty Black is an amazing wax and I topped this with BlackHole glaze; I used their products and was very pleased with them til I discovered Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Graphene products, starting with their Ceramic and Graphene paste wax; this stuff is amazing and topped with their Pro to the Max wax (which builds), this is the longest lasting LSP, with unbelievable beading and sheeting which literally lasts for months. And it’s not expensive either. Worth a try IMO.

So the car is going into the dealership tomorrow to have the Lifeshine removed with guidance from Autoglym, it will then be machine polished and then the product reapplied. They are having it for two days so hopefully it will be a better job this time.

Nice one!👍🏻

I would also add, the Autoglym instructions state they HAVE to coat the WHOLE car, including the inner door and boot panels, plus the door, boot and bonnet shuts and the sills.

Got it back this afternoon and what a difference. They used a guy who details cars for a living, looks so shiny all the contamination has gone, all the swirls on the bonnet have gone. Just need to do a water bead test to see how it performs.

As an aside they lent me a 1.0 tsi Scala OMG what an underpowered dangerous car. Pulling away just no go at all.

Make sure you test the sills and the inner door panels too. If the water doesn’t bead or beads poorly, you’ll know they’ve done a poor job.

Tested it all yesterday and it beads well everywhere. 👍
