Need help with connecting a wire to the side indicator holder.

Featured Replies

So, I got an used car 2013 Citigo last weekend. I can keep going all the way back and still 3 people can stand in between the other car and mine. Takes no place at all in the parallel parking lol. Okay, I digress.

The right off side indicator bulb was not working. Opened the bonnet, there was superglue betweem the wire and the holder!

Now I have cleaned the wire (Exposed contacts) and few bits of wire sticking out of the plastic holder (exposed contacts)

How do I join these two together, (Joining them together, holding with my finger and turning on hazard indicator means the bulb works!

Local garage (Halfords in Uk) is asking £25. I mean I just need to join two wires.

Is there a way to remove the plastic and stick the new one in like house hold wiring or go for a solder? Thinking of getting a gas solder. (Afraid of melting the plastic!)

Uploaded some pictures.

Thanks,

There's very likely to be a part number on that connector. If you put that number into ebay search box, with a little bit of luck you'll get hits that include such a connector with short wire tails hanging out of it.

Then you can join to existing wires well away from connector plastic.

Look up 'vw connector removal' on YouTube.

There's a knack involving a push, rather than pull, prior to releasing latch.

This thing is an work of art! Not a single dust spec was inside the connector and it's a decade old!

Push in, press the plastic bit and pull out. Simple and effective.

Was able to get it out, thanks for your help Pete!
