Skoda Rapid clutch issue

Following a recent clutch change on my 63 reg Skoda Rapid diesel I have had issues where I couldn't go from 1st to 2nd but could get 3rd and couldn't go from 3rd to 4th. So after the first time, less than a week after the clutch change I took the car back to the garage who carried out some adjustments and they said it was fixed. However, less than a 1000 miles later the same has happened again. I have taken it back again and again they have said they have adjusted it and it is okay. Has anyone else had this issue and if so what is the resolution,  as I don't really want a 'season ticket' to my local garage?
