2007 Octavia Dipped Light Kickup thing (going to Europe)

Hi guys, 

I've done some digging around on the best way to handle dipped beams and i found a couple of references to a mechanical thing you can do - this old thread:

talks about how to do it on post-facelift models and has a reference to the equivalent process on older ones being on octavia-vrs - but as far as I can see that site isn;t up any more. does anyone remember how it worked on pre-facelift ones?
