Tips plz-Pioneer Soundstage adjust?

Featured Replies

I just installed my new HU myself, a pioneer DEH-6850mp (its a far east, middle east, australia model to replace the 77 series). Damage:) -two small cuts on my fingers (badges of pride). I had to solder up/shrink tube a custom loom from an ISO connector for the Fabia to the strange mini plug loom thing that came with the pioneer. K-line disconnected, red/yellow switched. Works great!

I have Boston Acoustic speakers front and rear (8 inch rears).

Now - I want to adjust the settings. I listen to heavy rock mostly, and there is no subwoofer installed.(SWMBO would kill me if I said I wanted to get anything else for the next 6 months.... ).

Any advice or tips on settings to start from/ what's the idea behind a"soundstage" would be most welcome, please.:D

Cheers

Bas

As far as I know, the soundstage is effectively the projection, where the music sounds like its coming from. And ideally you want it to come from in front of you. In my Focus I just run a set of components and a sub. With your setup, you just need to fiddle with the balance and fader. Usually a couple of clicks forward and a couple of clicks to the right is how I run mine (well, not the forward part as I don't have any back speakers to fade out). I run the balance slightly to the right as my leg tends to muffle the mid slightly. Just play about with the settings until it sounds like your sat in the middle of the car, with the sound coming from infront of you.

With regard to how it sounds, just fiddle about with bass and treble. Never ever touch the loud button (if it has one) as this just causes distortion and is the spawn of satan. Just fiddle about with it until your happy with how it sounds. Audio is so subjective. I could set the car up how I'd have it, then you get in a hate it, so just set to your preference. :)

Good choice of speakers by the way, Boston are a quality make:thumbup:
