Service cost at years old

Featured Replies

So SWMBO 2019 SEL  5 door went into our nearest main dealer as we recently moved. Just on 4 Years from new, owned from new 29k.

service under a service plan plus mot . Spark plugs need changing at 4 years/40k @ £120 ((for 3 plugs remember)). Health check video confirmed passed mot, oiltight underneath but front disks and pads 70% worn so £355 please. Also the plugs at £120, the washer bottle is alkegedly leaking from a previous repair (what repair, when who???) That’s £52 please and offside rear tyre has some cracks so £78 please  £600 all in plus mot. Priced up parts at @<£200 and can’t justify them doing the work.

Someone is getting cheated. You, & the HMRC so all of us.

Charging the same for 3 Spark Plugs as 4 means that they still have 1 plug more from your service a car with 4 cylinders for A.N. Other's car.

You or anyone paying the same price including VAT for 3 plugs and 1/4 less labour as the person getting 4 spark plugs.   That is a con.

The pads are not 70% worn though, they likely are not 30% worn and the Service Desk staff have know idea what 100% is, and likely the Tech that filled the Service & Inspection sheet does not know how many mm they are.

Now you know why they're known as "Skoda main stealers". Also I'd agree with @toot about the brake wear.

I saw this yesterday and then things got in the way. But get yourself a set of brake pad feelers and check for yourself.

These are my original front brakes on a 2019 car after a little under 16K miles. About 11mm of brake pad remaining. (That's a 10mm feeler.)

I hate this percentage BS garages come out with when talking about brake wear.
