Check oil level warning

Featured Replies

I have been getting repeated 'check oil level' warnings, oil level is fine, called Skoda Assist out to check too and they said could be faulty sensor and to get it in to service centre to check.

Anyone experienced this at all?

(also dealer said the next available slot  for diagnostics is in October. They found a cancellation for September but that's still like 2.5 months until diag. I'm disabled and my wife is heavily pregnant so this is not good news, really don't want warning lights coming on all the time).

(EDIT.

When the 'Low oil level' light or message are working correctly and there is a low oil level, if you open the bonnet and even do nothing the light / message goes out for 62 miles / 100 km.    Which is just stupid really, but that is how the system is.)

?

Is the oil level fine when checked stone cold sitting on the flat, as in area A on the Dip stick.

The oil level check is at Normal Operating temperature parked on the flat after a few minutes.

So oil up above an indicated 80*oC, to 90 *oC and then dipped.

What engine has the car, how many miles done and has it had an oil change yet?

Is it a car leased from Motability?

PS

From your other 2 posts your local Dealership seems to be a busy place.

Must be all the Warranty jobs they have to get done, eventually.

I have had issues with 2 cars (different marque) with oil level warnings. Turns out that the sensor was not in the 'centre' of the sump but towards the front. If I parked either of the 2 cars on an up-slope I would get a low oil warning, which stayed on until I switched the engine off and allowed everything to power down. On a restart on the flat, no warning. Perhaps something is happening to others.
