Which car makers are coming up trumps lately?

Featured Replies

There are a few I reckon doing a good job.I know many will disagree:rolleyes: !!

Suzuki...Nice return to form.Swift looks nice and saw the new lttle 4x4 on the road.Very nice little car.

Hyundai....new Santa Fe.Looks good,good offers too.

Fiat...another baby 4x4 that looks good.Hopefully the 'new' 500 will be out soon too.Hope it is a phenomenon like the last one.A four wheeled Vespa:D

Chevvy (Daewoo).Saw there effort at a medium SUV.Looks very nice.

As for those lagging behind....Ford,Vauxhall,Skoda,BMW,Merc et al.All a bit boring as usual but I suppose that is their market.Faceless silver cars.Still can't love the Roomster yet, skodas effort at funky.Far more interested in the Yeti in 2007.

Who do you think is doing interesting things?

Daihatsu (Toyota's small car division) are making some much more acceptable cars these days. The Copen's quite smart IMO.

Mitsubishi with the new Colt too.

mitsubishi are doing a baby evo version of the colt..... bet that ones a cracker!

I drove the 1.5 Turbo on Tuesday and it was pretty similar to the Furby (without the low-down torque) but felt really spongey at the back - more power and harder suspension would make it a pretty cool hot hatch IMO.

The Evo's not confirmed unless there's demand but there is talk of a 180 which would be sub-evo territory apparently - that implies the evo would be 200+

For little run-arounds, Daihatsu, Suzuki and Mitsubishi all seem to have good offerings - they all make more sense than the likes of Fabias and Fiestas imo.

The new Punto looks great - a real contender to the Ibiza FR & Fabia vRS.

As for big cars, I think the Octavia and Mondeo are best of the bunch.

French cars don't seem so great, apart from the Clio and 207 which will undoubtedly be extremely popluar.

And in the micro super weeny mini segment, the Aygo is the best, what a cracking car.

Got to give the 207 two thumps up ( ) as it is a super little car!

I was driving the relativly basic petrol engine, and it was still really a lovely little drive.

Agree with the swift and the fanta fe. I cannot think of anything too amazing from the big jap car companies either, although the Honda and Toyota garages in exeter are having a major facelift so they must be making more momey than us at Peugeot.

I quite like new Honda Civic :D Not sure I'd ever own one though

I like the new civic... given a "company car" type choice, with things like the focus and astra as alternatives, I'd deffo go for a civic.....

Looked at the new Grande Punto Sporting as part of my big car session - didn't drive but it's the only car I've ever seen with big panel gaps on the inside

The trim was lower quality than the missus's Getz by a massive margin - Cheap and Nasty :thumbdwn:
