Karoq Panoramic Sunroof Seal

Featured Replies

Washed the car today and as I was cleaning the sunroof, to my surprise/horror, I noticed damaged to the seal. No idea how our when this happened. I've seen another post about it and it may have been birds but wtf? Is that even possible? Birds randomly attacking rubber seals? My car is a 2020 sportsline with 17k on the clock. Car is still under Warranty but would I be wasting my time?

Bird or impact damage, there is material missing on the edge fillet as well.

Why do you think a bird attack would be random?

Hi

I've ordered black silicone sealant in the mean time. No way I'm paying £800+ for the seal to be replaced. I enjoyed the car for the first year or so but lately it's beginning to be a bit of a letdown. This is just another flaw

If the cars under warranty I’d certainly speak to the dealers before slapping sealant about

Thanks for the reply. It's actually due to go into the Dealer soon for a 16 month (ongoing) software/camera issue so I will give that a go as you say. It just looks weird.

The seals are not completely water tight anyway, and there are drain 'pipes' at each corner to let rain water out. So I'd say it is mostly a cosmetic problem (unless it gets attacked again?)

Thanks Chris. If it was a cheap enough repair, I wouldn't be that fussed but the prices I've seen are bonkers. I actually found a clip on YouTube of a guy with a 2028 Tiguan with the same issue. On a few forums there have been posts about it. Some animals/birds/vermin mist have a rubber fetish it seems. Dealer first to ask the question and failing that a bit of sealant as a quick fix
