64GB Skoda-compatible SD card for MIB2?

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

recently bought a 2018 Karoq & I love it!
Only thing is the Satnav is from 2017. Tried updating via the official Skoda portal but it wants a genuine 64GB card to download the "Europe 1"  maps (mine is 16GB).
Anyone know how to either write the CID to a generic 64GB card or where to buy a 64GB Skoda-compatible card from?

My unit is a MIB2 - card begins 5L

Thanks,

Lee

Hello Lee, welcome to the forum. 32Gb (rather than 64) should be enough space for all Europe maps. I seem to recall from somewhere that 32 is max SD accepted on MIB2 - although your version might actually be MIB2.5 if you have facelift model.

I understand that non Skoda SD card can be used if formatted correctly - will have a search and come back to you.

Hello Lee, can you confirm what ICE you have fitted - is it Amundsen, Columbus, or something else?

Hello Lee, if you have Amundsen, other members have said correct format should be FAT32 with 4K clusters.

Hi,
thanks for the reply,
Yup it's an Amundsen, possibly the 2.5? (glass facia instead of physical buttons).
I've tried with a generic DS card & it isnt recognised.

Cant see how to format FAT32 with 4K clusters?  I can select 8K or 16K for a 32GB card?
Or ExFAT with any size Cluster?

This is on the non-Skoda (generic) SD card. my genuine cars is sadly a 16GB one

I think that you will need to obtain correct SD card. Amundsen will not accept generic card unless correctly formatted. I do not recommend AliExpress if you are considering that source, try the bay for pre-loaded, 32Gb card with 2023 version maps.
