Completely factory reset Kodiaq MY20 Sportline & Remove Main User

Featured Replies

Hi I have been having big issues with Care Connect on my MY20 Kodiaq Sportline. Connected Services (weather etc all work fine). Dealer suggested deleting my user and recreating it again. Skoda suggested a factory reset on the infotainment system... neither seemed to have worked.

I transferred ownership to me (from me) by deleting my existing account (at the time I got the car it was a VW ID still) and setting up a new (now) Skoda ID. Now I have a new activation code needing to be entered into the car... all as normal so far. BUT, the damn car still keeps asking for an S-PIN that hasn't worked for ages, and refuses to let me delete the Main User to Transfer Ownership on the infotainment screen. It's obviously not talking to the Skoda servers and still thinks its the old me.

How do I zero down the whole system including the Main User? The factory reset doesn't do this. All it did was reset all the cars settings (which It would of course). My hope its that the car will then after logging in with my new S-PIN, present me with the activation code entry screen so I can finally after a month re-connect my car to Skoda Care Connect.

Hope I am explaining this right. Want to avoid taking a 1/2 day off work to sit at the dealers while they fiddle with it.

 (maybe @varooom knows how?)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I am having exactly the same problem.

I cannot re-activate Skoda Connect after a main dealer salesman done a factory reset for poor screen response.

I have tried everything that Skoda technical have advised.

Main dealer could not solve it.

I have pages of e-mails from the factory.

Still the same.

I cannot set myself as primary user therefore i cannot activate Skoda Connect.

I am booked in to a main dealer on 1ST August.

They say they will need the car all day maybe more!

Pretty bad for a subscription service.

This has been ongoing since the start of May.

Yeah mine started week of 19th June, worked again for a few days the following weekend and has since refused to accept my S-PIN, thus the factory restore advised by Skoda tech and then delete/re-create account as suggested by my dealer. Still same. asking for my S-PIN.

This issue must be very rare as I don't see anyone else highlighting the issue here.

I suspect the whole day will be needed so they can wipe and reinstall the infotainment system to see if that works.

BTW - saw your post about this too.

@TechguyBooked into dealer next Friday for the day. Will let you know what happens.

They have logged into the back end with my credentials and see the car needs to finish activation after the new account ctreation, but I don't have the activation screen appear in the car (only the S-PIN request that fails each time).

So I guess they will wipe its brains and see if that works and gets it talking to Skoda servers again.

Hi. Just taken a look at your history file as I'm sure I'd replied to you before.   Did you take my advise and register with a different email address?

I have as much a clue about how Skoda's Connect system works as I have about quantum physics, but I do have a stong IT background, and everything that happened to me and from what I read about happening to others points to your email address being blocked. I don't care what Skoda says, resetting systems and deleting accounts doesn't appear to wipe the registered email account from their system. It's almost as if it's written in to hard memory and cannot be wiped.

I had the same problem, no matter what I did, I couldn't re-register my original email address. I used a different address which had never been registered with Skoda's system before and everything went thru, no problem.

Not saying it'll defo work but at least give it a try.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info.

I haven`t tried a different e-mail.

But have done all the  reset / delete stuff for ever!

Do you know if your Subscription to Skoda Connect is with the car or your e-mail?

Thought if i try a different e-mail i won`t see my subscription?

The car is going into  the main dealer next week.

So will see what the outcome is.

Failing that will try different e-mail.

I used a different email when I setup a new account after deleting the old one. Still have the same issue. The car is not aware of any changes and isn’t connected/connecting to Škoda Care Connect.

Just noticed you guys have a 2020 and 2021 Kodiaq. Has the software update been applied to your systems? The problematic software affected early MIB3 equipped units.

Your Skoda dealers should be aware of this. In their wisdom Skoda didn't contact owners rather contacted dealers and said 'apply this if there's a problem'. Such an inefficient way to run an operation.

My 2020 is up to date software wise. I think I’m MIB2 as well? but it’s got the latest version.

I believe my software is also up to date.

Latest update on my ongoing problem.

The car was into the Main Dealer today.

I had a phone call from Skoda head office technical.

They have already contacted the dealer to tell them what they have to do.

Recode the infotainment control unit.

Recode the telematics control unit.

Recode the keys.

Then set primary user.

They have done what the Technical people have told them.

Hey Presto all is now well.

Why they could not have done this at the previous attempts is beyond me.

I think that because head office technical was in constant touch with me made all the difference.

So Simon Harper that seems to be the way to go - head office technical!

Thx mate, as I suspected, a total reload of the infotainment system... better remember to take both keys if this is what they do. Cheers and happy to hear you are all fixed finally.

Yeah you need to leave both keys.

Sorry should have said that.

No problem. Have let the dealer know just in case too.

All done. Recent the ECU and managed to re-setup the Main User again. All working, can see my car again in the App and web. Didn't take long in the end so not as drastic as what they needed to do with your car @Techguy.

Glad to hear you are all sorted.

I have had a telephone conversation with Skoda head office today.

They have offered me a free years subscription to all Skoda connect services when my present subscription ends!

By way of an apology.
