Data Protection System.

Featured Replies

On my  mark 4 Fabia, every time I start the car I get 'Data protection share my position' on the infotainment system. I have to acknowledge it before it goes away. Is there anyway I can stop it from doing this and go straight to the radio? And what is the little icon at the top of the picture of the absolute radio photo it looks like a little globe icon. I never had this on my Mk3.

This "Data protection" display appears on my Mk4 too.  I believe it's something to do with the "Skoda Connect"  package that you can sign up to.

I took my Fabia into the dealer I got in from and he played around with all the menu settings including doing a full factory reset which I'd tried myself beforehand.  No luck - the message still appears.  If you sign up to the Skoda Connect package I think it may then allow you to amend some setting that may get rid of it. However, I wouldn't recommend it as I think it's a waste of money - they charge you £50+ after the 1st year for a bunch of  useless "features".  An excuse for Skoda to extract more money from their customers.

At first it was a bit annoying having to acknowledge it every time I started the engine, but i've got used to it now and it's just become automatic.

Thanks for replying. I know its not the end of the world having to acknowledge it every time, but I cant even see the clock until I do. Even if I choose do not share my position, I still have the flipping thing popping up.

I agree it's a pain. Blame the GDPR laws that means this can't be turned off in case it's a new driver in the car each time it's started and SKODA legally forced to establish data sharing consent.
