Can I Programme a Second-hand Used Key To My Car?

Featured Replies

I managed to pick up a used second hand key for my Superb 2 (actually I found it in a car at the local breakers), it's from the same year car and has the same part number.

As far as I understand there are 2 parts to the key, one is a chip for the immobiliser and the other is the remote locking/unlocking part. The chip I understand will need some specialist help to program, but is there a way to get the remote parking first?

The chip is one time only, a new one can be programed in with the dealer system ODIS and there are some aftermarket system locksmiths use. The remote control can be programed in with VCDS.

I have VCDS but I'm far from proficient with it, is there a guide somewhere and I can try the remote first?
