I have an annoying rattle from the dash behind the tray in front of the gear selector. 

Does anyone know how to take this apart? 

I don't know how to take it apart, but just checking the obvious..... you have opened that cover and there's nothing inside the little storage / phone holder part?

Yep, even managed to get the usb/lighter module out but can't get the top off. The gear lever surround pops up at the back but has a large tab that goes back under the armrest cubby. Think that section might need to come out first. 

It’s a challenge.

 

We’ve got a similar little rattle in my wife’s Polo. Comes and goes and hard to pin down.

 

But it’s there. My just have to get used to it.
