I have started seeing a problem with the ignition stop/start button on my 2018 280. It can work first time or it can take half a dozen attempts to actually turn the ignition on or start the engine. Has anyone experienced the same and a have a solution for it?

There are new batteries in the key fob so I know its not that. Im worried that it might stop working all together and leave me stranded.

There's a thread around here somewhere that shows how to dismantle the ignition switch. The switch gets gunked up and cleaning sorts it.

Brilliant, thanks for that. Well that's this week's job identified. 

 

I did mine a couple of months ago using JFC’s post. 30 mins from start to finish.

Thought I would get this done today. Super useful guide. Thanks. When I opened the switch it looked really clean. Gave the Pcb a quick rub with some cleaning alcohol and put it back together thinking it wouldn't change. I was wrong, problem solved. First push it kicks in.
