Skoda Karoq ...Reduce Oil Level warning...advice needed?

Featured Replies

A litre over the maximum stick level is a lot and yes, it was way too much.

So in the end, it didn't need topping up at all.

If you'd bother reading the manual it does tell you to top up in increments of 0.5 litre then rechecking.

Personally I think 0.25 litre is a safer increment and fill only to a max level ½ to ⅔ up the hatched area of the dipstick.

Remember to follow the procedure, car dead level, engine warm/hot and switched off for a few minutes. Remove dipstick and wipe clean, then dip and check. Wipe and redip to check again.

Yes, clearly I got the "dipstick" award for not following the guidelines, never again.

With 1 litre over for a relatively long time, all the oil has been thoroughly aerated.
I would certainly do an oil change ASAP.

The peace of mind alone is worth the cost.

I think air is able to find its way out of oil...

But the oil has already deteriorated from oxidizing.

No, I doubt it.

It's always in contact with air anyway, once you pour it out of the container.

Can that compare to churning it for hours at 90 C?

Or being sprayed out of jets to cool pistons...?

Sorry, not buying it.
