225/40 18" i think, im sure someone will correct me if thats wrong!!

if you go to mytyres.co.uk and put the size and speed rating in, you get a list of what they have from super cheapies to the expensive stuff.

they also have links to tyre tests on the website.

never used them i have to admit, but my mate said they were ok.

Wouldn't want to do that on a VRS.

I've bought loads of tyres from MyTyres.co.uk....... been spot on each time! The likes of QuickFit, National, etc, can't come close to MT prices.

Other one to try (also very good) are BlackCircles.com !

oh, dont get me wrong, there is no way on earth i would put cheapies on my vRS (or any car i own come to think of it).

quite happy with the Bridgestone RE050 thats on it. (i have the 17" wheels)

interstingly, the reports on mytires.co.uk rate the RE050 above the ContiSport Contact 2 that the 18" option seems to come with......

True & Interesting! I paid extra to fit Bridgstone PPSO3's to the 17" alloys on my old Bora 150TDI Sport, and the car was almost un-drivable! The grip was so emense that the car tramlined at every crease in the road, (they did however hang on like limpets when cornering;) ) and they wore out at a ferocious rate!

Next time round I went back to the OEM Bridgestone RE040's, much cheaper and the cars handling was restored, although the lateral grip when cornering wasn't as good.

Interestingly VW used to include a sheet in the owners manual that specified the exact tyres that could be fitted with the 17" option (or your warrenty could be void!). There were only four tyres and the RE040 was one of them (cant remember the rest). Does anyone know if this is the same for the 18" option on the vRS? Would be most interested to know if there was a recommended short list! Have the Contis on mine and the tread does seem to be going at an alarming rate, so was considering the 050's as an option next time around!

i have found them ok. but i have only done just over 2000miles, so have no real basis of proper opinion.

funny though, i tested a Focus ST with the contis on it and it tramlined badly on sigle track roads, yet a vRS with the same size of wheels / tyres didnt.......
