trade in prices on skoda's

Featured Replies

I know trade in prices at garages in general are pretty appalling, but the values I have been getting for my 4x4 are laughable in some cases! The garages are telling me that no one wants a skoda still, unless maybe its a diesel and then they might be interested. Even skoda dealers dont seem to want to know saying that they will struggle to sell it. price I got from skoda was £2500  . the best so far was £4000 (which i nearly jumped at after getting so depressed!) but then I realised that the garage only had very overpriced cars none of which I was interested in, so the deal wasnt soo good.

Anyone else found the trade-in prices on skoda's suprising? particularly in relation to what cars are actually advertised for sale at on places like autotrader?

If anyone wants to know an average expected trade in price, ask me!

I have seen people cry when they get the price for their trade in. When you part exchange a car to a dealer there is masses, and it is not a car the dealership can trade on there are a lot of middle men who have to make money on the car before it is owened by someone.

We had a 06/06 plate MG come in (the one that looks like a rover 45 in a tracksuit) it was two months old, and cost the guy £10k from new. We gave him £5.5k in part exchange, and that included £1000 of the unit one bonus!!

I always use the Glasses valuation (on the Vauxhall site) to find a part ex price for the car I'm looking to trade in and also the one I'm planning to buy. I found that trading in to a non-Skoda dealer, they tended to use the Glasses guide so I was in quite a good position.

Have you considered selling it privately? :D

Might go have a look at that, cheers! - EDIT just had a look and its 4k, kinda what I was expecting so one dealer was on the money, the others were a long way off. So now to find someone who actually thinks they can sell my car and offers me similar money with something interesting in exchange.

of course! its not on here, not yet being a freedom member, and its probably not the right place to sell it anyway unless someone wants a 2nd skoda in their garage (or wants to prove me wrong), but will be going on autotrader soon. Although again not sure if it will sell or what to advertise it for based on the last weeks trade in prices. And also what with a new baby coming along in erm.. oh blimey, its days.. is not the ideal time to suffer tyre kickers and fools, hence looking at a quick and easy trade. ;)

I didn't have any problems getting a decent trade in either at a Skoda garage or some other dealers.

me neither..got pretty much book price even though mine had a couple of small but deep and very visible scratches on the rear wheel arch

book for a 52 plate vrs varied from 5800 upto about 6800..Glass's value it at 6580 in excellent condition..I would describe mine as good and was offered 6500 which seems very close to the guide price

maybe thats the difference between a vRS and a 4x4 then...

It really depends on what the dealer sells. Different areas are more popular with different models. If a dealer has never sold a 4x4 then they may be cautious in taking one, they wont want to pay good money for something that is going to sit on thier forecourt for an age. And you think that price is poor, you should see what dealers get from auctions or traders for the cars that dont/wont sell.

Octy mk1 LK estate booked at 7.5 to 9.5 average 8.5, had a small dent in rear wing couple visible scratches, lots of stone chips, visible repair to windscreen and a craked/holed rear taillight cluster, so would have said average condition at best, got 10.1 against list on new vRS.

I will gladly prove you wrong :)

I advertised my vRS estate on here and sold it to a fellow forum member...... Worth the
