Newbie CCS Charging Issues

Featured Replies

Hi all,  Enyaq newbie so be kind ...

Took delivery of Enyaq 80 last week, after having PHEVs last 2 cars (Outlander then Mini Countryman).

First real trip this weekend to scottish highlands and car refused to charge via CCS on 2 chareplace Scotland chargers (at least one of which we know an MG4 charged on immediately before us) - just flashing while light and then Red light.

Had to change our plans completely and wait an additional 5 hours on an 11KW AC charger.

Came home and did some trial charges today - car accepted a CCS charge on a BPPulse charger (relatively new installation) but again refused a third Chargeplace scotland CCS connection. Phoned Chargeplace scotland and they confirmed multiple successful charges that day on that CCS charger but could offer little other help..

Right now the Mrs wants to reject the car - its completely spoiled the new car experience for her.

Any ideas why the car might not be happy with bog standard 50KW chargers ?

More likely to have been the chargers more than the car.  No handshake.  So were you starting them with the App or a Charge Place Scotland cars?  Which locations?     PS.  I have 70,000 miles of charging experience in Scotland in different vehicles and taking a few attempts to start a charge is not unusual and as for CPS well SWARCO who run it the sooner they are out of it the better for everyone except them.

Thanks, tried both using RFID (it was fort william after all) and with contactless. worked fine on the 22KW (only getting 11 as thats what the enyaq is limited to AC) - but your right it was like some kind of handshake failure. One I could udnerstand/accept, but 3 in a row (2 fort william, 1 Hermiston Gait P&R) is just too suspicious.

Hermiston Park and Ride had never worked for me with a Charge Place Scotland card and the App is crap.  Since the BP Pulse chargers went in. I just tap a credit card.  Same at the Airport park and ride on Friday. 55 pence a kWh.    3 goes to get it started and the BP Pulse guys were there doing a repair.   Fort William is just crap.  Always had been hit or miss.

Was only there as a test - have a wallpod so local not an issue - but pretty unhappy experience so far for Chargeplace Scotland (with the phev hardly ever bothered to charge up away from home) - mrs rapidly losing confidence ...

Now with a MINI I need to charge every 80 miles and I have done 2,000 miles in 7 weeks so lots of charging.  The beauty is that if I get on a 11kW that is great.  Or on a 7kW till a Rapid is available.   Lots easier to get a charge than with my Corsa which was a PITA at times.  But I have not spent more than £700 in charging as I had the best of 3 years.  Edinburgh was 30 mins max charging so I charged at LIDL Broxburn.    I have BP subscription so will have to charge at Hearthill occasionally as not enough range if Ingilston plays up.    Highland region is ridiculous now at 70 pence a kWh and Aberdeenshire Nd Aberdeen at 47.  This week I am charging free in South Ayrshire until heading home and needing to charge in Edinburgh..
