Oil pressure light coming on I got it looked at he checked the belt in the sump it’s ok then seen a leak in the filter housing change it when I got the car back it was down in power till it got to 2/2500 revs and a week later the low oil pressure light came on again has anyone on here have the same problem please and thank you

Hello Henry, welcome to the forum. Have you checked the oil level on the dip stick - if so, is the level correct? Do not drive it until you check this.

Yes I’ve checked oil and water all is right had clock in pressure switch was reading 100 bar check the belt in the sump it’s good was a leak at oil filter housing change it a week later on comes the light again going to check the oil pressure again with the clock and if it’s still low the only other thing that I can think is oil pump but if it’s the oil pump would the drive for a week without putting the light on

@Henry1972  So maybe the oil filter over tightened.

Is it the Red Oil Can light so Oil Pressure, not the Yellow Oil can, low OIl level?

What engine do you have?

What is the story, how many km, & are you sure the correct oil and when was it last checked at NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE

& it was at the correct level?

Not the cold dip level.

Again,   Simples.

Was the oil level checked at normal operating temperature so at about 90*oC indicated and on the flat and after stopped a few minutes.

Is there an old seal left on with the new filter, or it is over tightened to stop the leak?

What engine, how many km, and are you certain the correct oil was used?

****WAS IT 100 km You drove in the week?****

PS   IMPORTANT.

When you get a Low Oil or Low Oil Pressure warning and you open the bonnet and even do nothing and close it the lights / warning can go out for 100 km and then show again.

Hi all it’s Skoda superb 1.6 diesel with 330000km it’s had oil and filters changed every 10000 km it’s red low oil pressure light

OK.

Was it about 100 km you drove before the light came on again?

Is it 5w 30 FS III oil used, so to VW504 00 / 507 00,    It never got 0w 20 FS IV did it?

I would say it’s about 1000 km before it came on again after getting the sump belt checked and changing the filter housing and it was new filter and the right oil only left to replace I think is the oil pump

Hello Henry, you say oil pressure is 100 bar - are you sure about that? - that equals more than 1400 psi!

As far as I know that’s what I was told it was showing 100 bar and it should be at least 200 bar maybe I’m mistaken what do you think it should be??

I would have to make a guess of somewhere between 75 to 150psi. I can't imagine 100bar being correct.

I’ll check with the garage maybe it was psi when mine was checked it was 100 and the computer was saying it should be at least 200 not sure if it was psi or bar but will check to see

I have just checked - EA211 engine oil pressure should be regulated at 48psi/3.3bar - the readings your mechanic is quoting sound like fuel injector pressures!

Oil pressure should be in the range of 1 - 4 bar, depending on RPM. I don't know the exact figures for a 1.6 tdi, but 100 or 200 bar is absolutely impossible.
