climate control question

Featured Replies

just wondering whether or not mine is working as well as it should.

after coming from a pajero with climate and with both settings on 18 degrees, the pajero used to get much colder,so much so in fact that if you were to direct the airflow onto your hands after a while it would become painful as it was so cold, the skoda is nothing like this and it takes a long time to cool down the cabin and just doesnt feel that cold even though you can hear the fans changing so the system is obviuosly working ok.

do i need a regas or are others also like this.

It should be pretty cold (I've not been in a Pajero to compare), but if the car is 3 years old or more, I'd recommend getting a regas anyway. If you don't run the A/C all the time, then there may be a leak in the system, but the people who do the regas will be able to tell you if this is the case :D

How cold does it feel if you set the temperature to "Lo" ?

The Air coming from the Octavia A/C is no warmer than either the 2yr old Astra I owner previously or the brand new car we colected last week.

Perhaps the Pajero was particularly cold because it was designed to work in a hotter environment ? (maybe even a Shogun is warmer than the Pajero??)

to be honest it doesnt really seem to get any colder if you try and go any lower than 19 degrees.i think a regas is called for.

how much would a regas cost at the main dealers.

Just had my Octavia system serviced at Sherlodge Garage (Medway Skoda dealer), on promotion for

I had my aircon serviced including regas and antibacterial treatment last week after 4¼ years of use. 595 grams of refrigerant gas was evacuated during the service - the normal capacity is 750-800 grams - so there had been some leakage over the years. The aircon is now noticeably more effective, ie colder, and the recent musty smell has gone.

I used an independent specialist to do my air con regassing. They came to my house and did it on my drive. Took an hour and cost me 60 quid

Other things to check are that the compressor is actually working as it could be one of the Octy common faults.... :D

Check that the suction pipe back to the air con compressor is sweating heavily, it should be if the system has roughly the correct charge in it.

It's the same old story, run the cooling regularly to keep the compressor shaft seal from drying out, thats the only potential opening in an otherwise sealed system.

There is going to be some serious legislation on car air conditioning in the not-too-distant future.

Watch out for CO2 powered air con systems in years to come but the running pressures will be astronomical.

Why's that?
