MOT emissions sweepstake

Featured Replies

My Octy's currently enjoying a night away in Horner's Bury workshop, having been serviced today and going in for it's MOT tomorrow.

The service has revealed about

I am going to say pass for these reasons:

1) I have no idea what an emissions test

2) I am a positive person

3) It is a skoda, and therefor better than a peugeot, so fingers cross passes more tests.

It will pass because they can't fail it if it isn't bel;lowing out huge cloudes of ****e out of the exhaust as per many of the **** mobiles around here.

Seriously though, IMHO, petrol cars get it relatively easy as the test is done at idle so as long as they allow the car to warm up you should be fine. Derv's are done at full chat in neutral, which is a totally unrealisitic situation.

Still, i'm on pass the emissions test, but since every MOT costs at least £200 they will take the money off your hands for other things they 'find' :)

I'd say pass. Reason. If I just paid 1K and if failed I'd be ****ed off

Haven't reached the full

Hope it all goes well. Want to buy a 2002 Mondeo in excellent nick (just sailed through it's MOT! :P)?

Chris

Best of luck-----even though I voted Fail

Hmm, they don`t rev the engine while doing an emmissions test in the U.K?

In Denmark, they rev. it to around 2500rpm, and hold it there for 10 secs.

You guys don`t know how good you have it over there, easy MOT, cheap cars and cheap Skoda`s. But OK, you are driving on the wrong side, so... :D

I thought that they did 2 tests - one at nautral idle and one at fast idle (around 2500-3000 rpm) at least thats what my MOT documentation says

Ahh been a while since I saw a petrol car do an MOT, so you are probably right then.

I've been driving diesels since I passed my test pretty much :)

Still not quite the same as full chat in neutral though :S

test for imissions is done at idle ,but if it fails there is an option to do the test at 2000 rpm ,this was originally for carb cars with SU carbs which could barely pass the test at idle new out of the factory .Best option is to get a pre sva kit car ,they only have to pass at the 1973 standards of no visible blue smoke at idle !!
