Intermittent clunk when pulling away

Featured Replies

Hi all,

2.0tsi VRS 2017 DSG

Changed my front lower control arms a while ago and with poly bushes, after the old ones were creaking like crazy.

All has been fine, but now intermittently I get a little clunk when pulling away.

I thought it was the brakes, but if I just take my foot off the brake and roll, then apply throttle. That's when it does it.

Normal driving along, gear changes etc.... never hear it.

and I can go forwards, back, forwards, back many times on the drive and it wont do it.

Just ben under the car and checked all the bolts from doing the arms and they are all solid.

I cant decide if its the rear doing it, its hard to tell, but kinda feels like the front. That may just be because I'm panicing its the DSG!

Any other places to check?

?

Do you have a VAQ diff, and if so has it been service twice by now?

I was under the impression mine has the electronic diff

You best check.

VAQ at 3 years / 30,000 miles.  I can bump the thread.    Newer ones now showing as being at 2 years.

This is in my build data

0ES EDF Installation differentiation for transmission DQ250 -- vehicle components --

and its mk3 PFL that have them only? mine is not PLF.

Some FL models get the VAQ as my 2018 245 edition has one ;)

I think all 245's had the VAQ fitted as standard?

Still, a dealer should be able to pull up the original build spec, I believe PR-1Y2 is the VAQ diff :)

If not, try using OBDeleven or VCDS, if you can access module 32 - Differential Locks, then it certainly has a VAQ fitted
