Not registering touch on front interior lights module

Featured Replies

Hi all!

Just got a brand new RS about 14 days ago, and the only thing that currently annoys me about the car is that I sometimes can't toggle the interior lights. I also have the sun roof and when that happens I can't even open/close the roof or shade.

Doesn't matter if the car is on, off, ignition only, the whole lights module is non responsive (not even the service and info buttons work, haven't yet tried if the sos works). It comes back to life the next drive, most of the time.

Funny thing, the rear lights always work. I guess it's a separate module, but still.

Anyone else had that happen? Just asking here, before I call the dealer. I would think that for something as simple as an interior light, anything lower than 100% reliability is unacceptable.

Actually that's happened to me a few times.  The system just freezes and the whole sunroof sunshade and lights in the unit for a period of about 20 minutes is inoperable than it somehow comes back, ether by itself or because of some type of manipulation. I mentioned it to the dealer, they said to monitor it and bring it back in if it continues. I haven't brought it back as of yet I haven't found the time but i know I should. I did notice though that it happens primarily when the sunroof is in the process of doing one thing eg opening, but you stop it or tried to close it before it fully opens, but then the whole unit or most of it just freezes.

Interesting that it seems to freeze if you interrupt ongoing action. All the times I noticed mine doing this was when I parked and didn't exit the car right away, but wanted to turn off the lights. I might just try to open the sunroof a few times and interrupt it to see what happens.

I'd like to notice a pattern before going to the dealers, so that I can make it freeze on command so to say. If it's random it's hard to prove it's doing something wrong.

Ahh ok well mine was during the drive, though one time was before a drive when I excitedly showed my wife the feature where you  press and hold the unlock button on the fob and the 4 windows plus sunshade (sunroof) open.  I had forgotten that the sun shade/ roof also opened when you did that so I didn't complete the process then we started to drive off and she tried to fully open the sun shade and roof and it was stuck plus the lights didn't respond for about 15 to 20. Yes you are correct if it's random it would be hard to prove. All the best with it.

I've emailed Skoda help as they have instructed. I need them to have a look at it as the problem has persisted. The car is only one month old and already it has electronic issues. This must be covered under warranty.  First time having to deal with them for an issue that has been present from the start.
