Service Questions

Featured Replies

Mine's up for it's first service shortly (only 500 miles to go according to the indicator) and was wondering what if anything to get checked while it's in. Also, what are garages charging nowadays for a service, anyone negotiated any deals?.

Finally, is mine the first OctyII vRS for it's first service or has anyone else had one done yet?.

Oh dear. How many miles have you done?

it tells you in the service book. But it should be the usual.

Oil and filter

and basic checks of brakes lights, etc.

Aye I know that, but I was wondering if there was anything else more specific to look out for that mey be a trait of the OctyII i.e. abnormal brake pad wear, loose connections, things like that.

How much are you paying for a service Roo, if you don't mind me asking?.

 Is that not a bit early when it can be upto 19000 or 2 years. I know it depends on the type of driving but that sounds like it's all stop-start or track days.

 but youv'e had that thing twenty years!!!!!

I've done 11000 in mine so far had it since 19th Jan, what does the service indicator look like ?

Mine has also had a hard life so far , it sees the wrong side of a ton each day on the way to or from work,+ fun time :)

Has not missed abeat yet, the front tyres have about 3000 left on them but nothing else seems to be a problem. Has used a couple of litres of oil though.

Hi, we charge @£180 for the 1st service - Remember your car is using full synthetic Long life oil, which is very expensive - Don't use crap oil to save money!!!

There should be nothing much extra to be checked, the technicians will check all that is required for your car. The only suggestion is to swap wheels f - r, but bear in mind you might have to replace all 4 when they wear out about the same time.

A 'spanner' in the display when you turn on the ignition + how many miles to service!.

Absolutely shocking!

I must confess to not having looked for it on the Octavia but most VAG cars will tell you how long you have left provided you press the right buttons.

I'd say 13k is not at all bad then;)
