Skoda Superb MKIII glovebox removal

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My heater matrix requires replacement. Attempting this one myself but before I get stuck in, would anyone happen to know how to get the dreaded glovebox out?

I understand that the Octavia III’s simply pull out of the tab by tugging upwards. However, with the Superb it almost seems sealed at the hinges.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Hey,

From the workshop manual, it appears you have to remove the infotainment control unit first, then you can unscrew the whole assembly and remove the hose for the A/C vent and airbag switch.

I did the job a few weeks back and although fiddly it's doable in a couple of hours DIY (I'm no mechanic!).

I managed to avoid removing the infotainment unit separately simply by unscrewing the 6 screws holding the unit to the dashboard and unclipping the wires in the back of it one at a time, just be careful not to drop the weight and note which go where. There's quite a few cables for lights etc to be mindful of. Removing the air bag cable will give you a fault code that can only be reset with vcds, a standard obd won't be enough. You'll access the heater matrix eventually, needs a little force to get the two pipes off it and then getting them back on the new one was a real b1tch. I used a little grease in the end. Pipes are very soft metal too so be careful not to damage. The clips too, don't damage them! Otherwise, it's dead easy, ha ha. Good luck!

Thanks gents, appreciate your replies. I managed to replace the heater matrix without needing to take the glovebox out. 👍🏼

That's some crazy magic you must have! Good job.
