Middle seat belt in the back jammed on 17 estate

Featured Replies

The day after my 6 month mapfre 6 month warranty ran out last week, I am told the middle seat belt in the back is jammed. I have not been able to free it up, no give at all.

It was working when I bought the car and we used it during the summer.

Before I start looking for a 2nd hand one just wondering if anyone had had the issue and if there are steps to free it up?

Or is there any chance the likes of that has a long manufacturer warranty?

Thanks!

For something as safety critical as a seatbelt, don't use second hand parts. Get a new unit. Assume it's the recoil mechanism that has jammed. Try some WD40 to see if you can free it first though.

Have you tried pressing down on the padding where the belt goes over the backrest to create more slack..to then feed the slack into the top slot, to then be able to unlock the mechanism & pull the belt forward?

Thank you @fabdavrav that worked!

I had not noticed that the top cap is missing ans so the belt and the button on it slips passed and gets jammed. Would anyone know how I can find the part number to order a new cap like the other 2 have?

Glad it worked!!

I'm having trouble finding the exact part number...you might have to go to the dealer parts dept

I've had a look at all the seat belt diagrams & its not on it..the nearest is the seat backrest diagram here...but I still can't find it!!...That really should have it as the belt could rub on the metalwork etc underneath!!!

You rock @fabdavrav! I gave that info to the dealer and they found the part....they pulled up the first diagram first and like you say useless! V8V0857763B came in today and they have me a call. It cost €8.89, fits like a glove!

Glad it worked out!...

Thats the trouble with second hand cars....(It can happen to new cars also).....bits go missing, & getting the bits that it should have can be a bit tricky!...
