Do I trust any opinion piece I find on YouChube?  NO!

Do I contemplate blocking more or less anyone who quotes YouChube opinions as fact? YES!

Oh dear, then in that case you also will not believe these then either?

I struggle to understand why so many people are so blinkered that they will not even consider that YouChube is spreading lies and misinformation, so are main stream media such as radio, TV and newspapers and including various governments around the world for all sorts of reasons and yet people seem to prefer their versions even when it has been shown be so often pure BS. 🙄

I did not say that. It is unusual to find a VLOG opinion piece that actually has cites at all, never mind reputable cites.

Well those are type of VLOG that I follow mainly because there are so many disbelievers who think that VLOGers are only doing it for views and are clickbaiters. Many do it to get the truth out because the MSM is biased and often censored.

The first day of the year, a working day like any other for me, I was talking to myself in my mind as I do when working and pondered I bet we don't make it to the end of January before the incarnation of the late Ken Block has publicly blocked another contributor, looks like it may not even take 24 hours!

@J.R.do you mean a incarnation of@KenONeill?  Ken Block did sadly die.

What a shame there will be no new ones of these, maybe a few are at sea and on their way to the UK or already here.

It was a nickname that I gave to our Ken while the original was still alive, I had forgotten that our one had changed his username, in fact it was you who told me, he will always be Ken Block to me all the time he continues taking pleasure from publicly blocking people then reinstating them so he can do it again.

I realise now that my post will have made even less sense given the change of username.

I am still Blocked surely. I was told often enough over the years.

In case anyone is wondering why I like following John Cadogan on YouChube it is because he is more than the average YouChuber, he actually does understand what he is speaking about, he holds a degree in mechanical engineering .

He says "If you're wondering what qualifies me to do this, I have a degree in mechanical engineering, and I've been a reporter for the past 25 years - reporting on the car industry, automotive consumer issues, and reviewing cars, in print, online, and on radio and TV." extracted from his website.

ABOUT ME — Auto Expert by John Cadogan - save thousands on your next new car!

Auto Expert by John Cadogan - save thousands on your next new car!

I have watched him for decades and linked / posted his videos on here for over a decade.

He p15535 me off more than a little now with the over the top stuff. It has lost it's humour to me.

As to the Daihatsu Pick ups, and the vans.

We used to use ones for deliveries and to work on a hill for working on paths and tracks.

That was about 28 years ago.

?

So have people been dying because of fraudulent test results.  Has the doors caved in on them when T-Boned?

We used to just worry about rolling down a hillside in them and wondered how they might fare

My Jimny pick-up bed was a shortened version on a Honda Acty pick up bed, the same ones as used on the Daihatsu pick-up.   Very good metal.

Yeah, I can see what you say about John Cadogan, he does indeed waffle on with all the over the top padding and his attempts to inject what he thinks is humour, but his reasoning is pretty sound, he understands the concepts and the engineering, and he can see straight through the political posturing that is currently going and the corporate BS of the big corporations who are really only interested in the continual leverage of our money from our pockets to their offshore big fat bank accounts.

As to the K class of vehicles, yes they do have their charms and their places in today's world, but the reason for the current crisis that Daihatsu finds itself in, is just another example of the aforementioned corporate greed. They did get the required safety standards to prevent occupants from becoming the collateral damage in accidents, and then they secretly removed all hidden from view safety bits in the name of increased profit margins, knowing full well that doing so placed people in danger should an accident occur. What more proof does anyone need to illustrate that we are just the means of feeding that gravy train and nothing else matters to the big corporations and politicians.

I hope people with them in the UK are not running off to Solicitors for some class action.

There are some cracking customised ones on the go.  I remember the Mike Brewer one.

Nicely modded up and fast and probably none killed any of the drivers, passengers or the innocents they passed.

Maybe the price of them will drop but i doubt it.

Maybe VOSA might have someone seize them. But then that would open a can of worms for many car manufacturers / cheaters

I can't be certain, but maybe they only did the removal for certain countries where they thought that they stood a chance of getting away with it. I don't recall the UK being mentioned in the list of countries affected by their cheating.

@Graham ButcherAs i pointed out in that Toyota Recall Thread you posted.  It was just the Toyota iQ for the UK.

I seem to go for cars that have recalls years / decades later but have been fine through all the years inbetween.

There was no change of username if 'Paws 4 Thot' is really Ken O'Neil as both accounts are active which, if they're the same person, is in breach of  Briskoda site rule #4 unless Colin allowed it.

There are worst things happening in the world to be concerned about right now than that.

People are frequently locked out of forums through password issues and end up creating a new user ID.

Only mentioned it as you'd brought the names up, John

I'm confused...I occasionally go through periods of work when I don't access Brisky for 1-3 weeks and this year I had a family mater that took me away from the site quite a bit. I noticed ken didn't seem to be posting and remember checking his personal page, but didn't see a change of name. I assumed he had a row with someone and had taken a self-imposed time out. Have I missed something?

I asked after him and another (then) absent poster at the time (I was concerned it might be medical problems as he had mentioned dialysis) and Root suggested that a new user was the same person so unlike the other he was not absent at all.

The profile, location and above all the frequent public blocking of other contributors confirmed to me that Root was correct.

Well we never had such safety systems before, so... All the same I'd hate to think of anybody who was involved in a smash and suffered because the safety system had been removed.

Millions have never been in for the Takata air Bag Racall and that is from cars back as far as from 2001.

Lots of tardy manufacturers with the Recalls and VW Group probably among the worst.

Seemingly only 2012-2018 with Skoda,s and some.

So the RECALL now on Mk4 Fabia and recent manufactured cars must be another Air Bag potential fault.

I had a computer failure, and was only able to reinstate access using a new e-mail and user-tag.

Ah, so can Colin not do some of his magic and give you your username back (assuming you want it, of course)?

My thoughts exactly - email to Colin and password recovered at that end. No log in required to find his email address as it's on one of the main pages IIRC.
