Argghh!!! Aftermarket HU

Featured Replies

Have just installed my JVC aftermarket HU but when I come to switch it on nothing! You can hear it power up when the power is applied and it will accept discs but it won't actually turn on, have done all the good stuff like checking all the cables and resetting the unit but so far nothing!! Does this sound like the unit itself is knackered??

Thanks in advance

are you plugging the ISO connectors straight into the back of the head unit? or is a wiring adaptor supplied with the JVC?

Have a wiring adaptor that came with the unit and have swapped the two bullet connectors over so that is runs without the ignition being on.

The reason i ask is that the blue wire on the JVC is your 12 volt remote output for electric aerial/amp and that will connect to a permanant 12 volt supply on the skoda side which can cause a back feed back into the unit causing the problem you mention,i suggest cutting the blue wire from the JVC then powering the unit back up

thanks will try that now! will let you know how it goes :) thanks !

well if it doesn't instantly fix it i suggest leaving the unit unplugged for a couple of mins then re connecting it and if it works and your radio reception you will require a signal booster which connects between your aerial and is powered from the blue wire from the JVC

Have tried your suggestion but to no avail, I get the same symptoms, have power but cannot turn the unit on. Any more suggestions?

My Jvc was just like that, it lit up when first turned on and would accept CD's but that was it! It turned out to be a blown fuse to one of the two power supplies so the other one allowed it to illuminate. It took a while to find it but I traced it to one of the smaller fuses in the top half of the fuse BOX

That's exactly what mine is doing, which fuse is it, the one on the back of the unit below the ISO connection or is it actually in the unit itself? From what you're saying it sounds as though it's in the unit.
