SKODA KAROQ SE L 1.5 TSI 150 PS 6G Man (2019

Featured Replies

Hi

Help please. Heading off next week to view/test drive the SKODA KAROQ SE L 1.5 TSI 150 PS 6G Man (2019.

Can you confirm if the space saver wheel should be included in this model. Is it a purchase add on and or an after market purchase. Should I be concerned with any particular recalls or things to check or feedback. Have been offered a good price for my Skoda Superb Sportsline.

Thanks Pauline

I bought a 2020 Karoq Sportline last year and that had no spare or spacesaver, just the repair kit. Not sure that’s a hard and fast rule though, might just vary car to car, some have a spacesaver some the repair kit.
I managed to source a spacesaver from a member on here and then bought a scissor jack.

Enjoy the test drive; don’t be deterred by the ride if it’s fitted with the 19in wheels which aren’t the most comfortable! Lot of discussion on here about those rims - possibly a case of downsizing or swapping the Bridgestones

Yes, it is a bit of a guessing game as each car I looked at online has a different spec. Has 18" wheels though. Found some spacesavers on ebay?

The default is cars come with a repair kit as standard. Space saver kit was a factory optional extra. You can also buy the same kit from Skoda aftermarket. You can also buy a 3rd party kit or buy a used wheel from places like Ebay.

The only recall my 2019 car had was to check the sunroof drainage. Early cars had an issue where the drains could block - for those cars they'd fit the newer part that didn't block so easily.

Standard alloy wheels were 18" but some may have chosen to upgrad to 19".  Sometime in 2020, those 19" wheels became std.

I think most on this forum would advise against 19" wheels on a Karoq.

hope that helps

My karoq came with a spacesaver but I bought the car used. My wheels are 18s and I replaced the Bridgestones with vredestien winters, which improved the ride.

Thank you to those who have replied. Sod's law, ground covered in snow today, just as we planned to new car bring home.

Fortunately, it has got a spacesaver, 18" wheels, sat nav, rear view camera and heated seats. So coming down from the sportsline superb our SE L Karoq is not far off the same spec. Did look at the Kodiaq it didnt seem right!

Thanks all.

Hi All. Yes, the Karoq has a Space saver. Problems now though. They sold us their car first without even doing an examination. Some 5 hours later after we had returned home they telephoned to say roof has a large crack. They then wanted £2700 to repair my car. They in their Terms and  Conditions should have done this before they sold me their car. My vehicle was valeted prior to arrival at the Skoda Dealers and had no visible signs of a defect. It would appear this all relates to a Panoramic Sunroof. Apparently a well known problem. Your Help Please

@Watsons

The car you traded in has a cracked roof they say.

Who valeted your car and how long or many miles before you handed it over.  Did the Sales Executive not inspect your car they were buying, is that what you are saying?

I think I know what you mean but your wording is a tad confusing. Are you saying the garage are complaining about the car you traded in rather than the sunroof on the karoq you now have?

If yes then I'm stunned.   Is this a franchised Skoda dealer or a large car supermarket type of outfit?

Legally they don't have a leg to stand on. Just as you should have inspected the karoq for damage prior to driving off their forecourt, they should have inspected the car they bought for damage prior to signing the purchase agreement.

If I were in your position, I would say to the garage that the sunroof was perfect when you handed the car over to them and I'd leave it at that. I would not get drawn into saying anything else.  If they wanted to make anything more of it, I'd suggest they contact their legal department as I'm willing to swear under oath in court of law that the sunroof was in perfect working condition when I sold the car to them therefore any damage must have occurred after the sale.

However it's never a great idea to be clever. The sunroof definitely wasn't damaged when you handed the car over to them? The reason I say that is they may your car on CCTV when it arrived where the damage could clearly be seen.

I'm, it's been a stressful week. My Skoda Superb Sportsline has the Panoramic Sunroof. The car was valeted 2 days before delivery to the Skoda Main Dealership. It would be virtually impossible to not have noticed or seen the alleged defect that day or any other day.

I did a test drive on the Karoq, it has no sunroof but drove very well. My husband checked over the Karoq at which point the salesman completed the transaction. The salesman did not check my car before, then, later or at all. He had moved my car on us leaving the garage nothing said, 3 hours later we spoke about the MOT nothing said. Only some 5 hours after arrival at the garage did he state an examination had found a defect across my car roof.

Then all he was concerned with was me paying the money to have the Superb repaired. He declined to return £1800 balance paid towards the purchase of their car or even present a way forward. So they basically wanted us to loose £4500.

I genuinely presented my Superb without any visible defects and all they have done is dismissed me. It is the worst experience I have had and if they had done things properly would we or they completed the sale.

The Dealerships issue is they got the car and after that it could have been taken for a run, parked at the shops while the Sales Person, Tech / Fitted got some munchies,

or it even went to the prep area and someone or something was on the roof or hit the roof.

It could have been anywhere after you left it with them.

It was In Trade with them, covered by their insurance.

My advice remains as above.

The valet issue is irrelevant. The sunroof could have been damaged between then and when you sold the car. However they had the opportunity to inspect your car prior to buying it. They agreed a price, they should have then checked the car to make sure there was no damaged BEFORE accepting it.

The garage cannot under any circumstances renege on the contract you signed.

As for returning the balance?  Sorry I can't understand that.  Surely the monies were settled when you bought the Skoda?

If you're out of pocket, speak to citizens advice.

Was this a franchised dealership? Would have thought they'd know better.

If it was one of those large used car supermarkets or some Arthur Daley type garage, then it wouldn't surprise me. Some of the characters out there are shocking.
