Bluetooth issue 2011 vRS

Recommended Posts

Greetings.

There have been a few threads over the years it would appear when I search for this issue and yet I haven't seen a definitive answer or solution to the problem:

Today i bought a 2011 vRS and whilst it would appear the car is capable of Bluetooth connectivity with the steering wheel having the button with the phone icon, the centre console head unit button having a "Phone" button and the Media having "BT-Audio" that can't be selected despite ticking the box in "Set Up", you can't connect a device.  Also, the Menu on the dash between the rev counter and speedo doesn't show "Phone" and, when you're listening to the radio and press the "Phone" button on the centre console, it just mutes the radio.

So, being completely new to the brand I am going to ask a dull question or two; are all 2011 vRS cars with the Balero head unit set-up with Bluetooth connectivity for phone calls and music streaming or was it an option that had to be set-up?

Or, is mine broken?

If it's broken, is it easy to fix/what is the fix?

Thanks,

Ben

Octavias of the age of yours had the buttons built in for phone as you have found, however the bluetooth module was an extra accessory that many people did not purchase.

I had a 2011 Elegance that had the same buttons and performed the same as yours.

I believe the solution is to fit the bluetooth module, but I never bothered.

Thanks for the reply; I appreciate that.

I'm seeing the modules on ebay for between £30-£140, do you (0r anyone else reading this) happen to know whether it's the work of a moment for an experienced person to install and have the whole system work as I'd want it?

I also have an interest in this thread.

I dont have a VRS but i do have a 2009 facelift model with a bluetooth module, but its only for voice calls not audio.

From what ive read on other threads not all blue tooth modules have the audi compatibility.

Do i need a different blue tooth module or is there something i can add-on- to my curent bluettoth module?
