My New Roomster and the VCDS list of jobs to do.

Featured Replies

Hello,

After having my Roomster for a couple of weeks I now know of a few "features" that I need to fix.

1) The airbag light keeps coming on.

2) The rear parking sensors are evil.

I bravely fired up my trusty old VCDS laptop hoping there would not be too many issues and got this.

Hoping @Breezy_Pete is passing with some advice 😀

One thing I do know I'm quite taken by my grandpa-spec Roomster!

Any advice welcomed .

Might pop the panel off on the passenger side airbag plastics and clean the plugs and contacts 🤔

Every time I clear the code it comes back the next day.

Annoying. Very annoying.

Just got a bag of parking sensors from a crash damaged VW Polo.

They are supposed to be the same. We will see....

Knackered!

I don't know much about airbag problems, never had any dealings.

Don't know anything about parking sensor problems either!

V68 fault might cause unpredictable cabin temperature issues.

@Breezy_Pete Thank you for your service 🫡

I disabled my airbag with VCDS. Then I had a no airbag fault on the dash. Turned it back on and reset any fault codes.

Not had the airbag fault come back yet. Weird.

I did think perhaps the air con was leaking and throwing the climate error.

And I will just replace the parking sensors and hope for the best.

For an '07 car I'm happy with those faults.

@Quadra840AV

Hiya, is this of any use to you?

I'm going to be doing some parking sensor troubleshooting soon, after I sort out some front passenger doorlock issues.

Cheers

@Thud Thank you for that. It will be a help for those "beeping" sensors.

If it ever stops raining I'll be under the bumper. 😅

You'll be in behind the left boot panel as well, no doubt, as thats where the parking sensor brain lives. Take care putting it back. 😀

My aux power socket trapped and shorted a couple of wires in my rear light cluster loom. Caused a few problems, I can tell you.

How did you disable the airbag? I have this error on my Yeti and despite best efforts it won't clear.

Off the top of my head you go into the module for for the airbags / safety system. Select the specific airbag you want to turn off. Then change the value on the left hand corner of the window to disable it.

Then confirm the change.

I did this and then I had a airbag missing error on my dash. I then turned it back on, then cleared all codes. Been fine since. ✌️

Saved me removing the panel to check the connector.

If I get chance tomorrow I'll screen grab the menu if you want.

Hi,

In case this helps. There was a reference in this Youtube video to the fact that the Airbag warning light comes on when something electrical (e.g. radio or instrument cluster) has been replaced or reconnected without isolating the airbag system first. The video relates to investigating immobiliser issues but the reference at 5'12" or thereabouts caught my attention. I have had similar issues.
