Superb IV, Octopus Intelligent Go and aircon...

Featured Replies

I've been driving my 21 plate Superb IV for a week now, commuting 25 miles each way is going well on battery.  I charge at home and at work.

I'm with Octopus, initially on Economy 7.  I had a smart meter fitted on Thursday and signed up for Octopus Intelligent Go yesterday.

The car charged fine last night much to my relief!

The car is now so cheap to drive locally, around 2.5p per mile!  The effective mpg is insane!

My question:   Because Octupus are now in charge of the charging (so not using scheduled charging with the option of aircon), is there any way I can set up preheating/aircon to be done automatically?

I assume I can manually turn it on prior to my departure which is fine but I wondered if any other methods existed.

Cheers all, I'm absolutely blown away with this car 😊

What I've done with my Passat is to turn the octopus control off. Not had any issues with them knocking me off yet and it's been like that since September. Do I can now time all my charging and preconditioning with the car timer.

One thing you lose by doing it that way is the extra slots you get via the intelligence.

Edit: I also found that octopus didn't realise my car couldn't charge at 7kw so it didn't ever give it long enough to get a full charge. Most I ever got was 17 miles out of a usual 28 at that time of year.

Cheers MarkyG.  That is very interesting indeed.  I assumed they would bump you if you did that for more than a month.

I might well have a go.

I was able to select a 2kW 13A generic charger and they give me enough time for 100% charge.   Maybe this is a new option.

All going well so far.... I even put the heating on today and still had 5 miles remaining after my 25 mile commute.

I'm more than happy with this car so far 😊👍
