Hi all,

The lock cylinder on the driver’s side of my MK2 appears to be stuck. I’ve tried spraying an ungodly amount of WD40 in it, but it refuses to budge. Since I’m cheap, I’d rather not spend the money on a new cylinder, so I’m wondering if there’s any other way to unlock the car in case the battery goes flat.

I’ve looked around the car, but there aren’t any other visible locks on the boot or doors. Perhaps there’s another lock hidden behind a piece of trim somewhere? Otherwise, does anyone have any tips on getting the driver’s side lock unstuck?

Try using a lock lubricant or a dismantling lubricant rather than Water Dispersant Formula 40?
