Possible to buy just the lens for rear headlight??

Featured Replies

Hello folks hope you are well.

So having been parked up outside the house, some lovely person decided to swipe my rear drivers side bumper & led light cluster and carry on with their day🤬🤬

The red/ white lens is cracked although the actual headlight for my 2014 mk3 5e vrs estate is fine….as in photo and rear bumper is scraped.

Can I purchase just the replacement lens?Only finding the whole rear led  lights assembly on the web.

Also mot is up on 5 March, would it fail on this? I don’t think I will have time to repair it in time due to work commitments

Thank you

Have you tried local and online scrap yards? I have failed an MOT in the past for less damage.

In theory, provided you cover the missing bit of the lens with the correct colour it can pass.

You can buy Red lens tape from all the usual places, Motor factors etc. Tip you need to use several layers to acheive the correct red colour when the lights are lit as the MoT tester will fail it on the incorrect colour showing.

However I doubt you'll manage to do a convincing job with that amount of damage. Just because it doesn't look elegant is not a reason to fail the MOT.

Thank you very much guys.Of course! You have to buy the whole light cluster! 🤬

The guy I bought the car from just returned my text to say he upgraded these to Mk4 vrs estate w led.

I bought the mk3 from eBay in Germany,wrong one,not led,no returns 🤬🤬More f**+++ money!

I can’t believe no note on the windscreen,common courtesy.Oh well,the world we live in I suppose…

A MK4 tail light won't fit a MK3 Octavia.

They are mostly likely from a MK3 facelift, aka MK3.5 :)

You have the part number so I'd look for one of those to make sure it matches.

BTW headlights are on the front of the car, what you are talking about is just called the rear light.

I’ve just this minute, bought  this on eBay (a 2nd rear light cluster) with the same part number as the one I removed from my car Vrs ,for £150.

But on looking at the photos of it,it doesn’t have an led bulb in it like mine and I swear the white part doesn’t look aggressive on the one I just bought.

Any thoughts ?This is doing my head in!!

mine at top 2 photos

new eBay one is 2 photos below

Thank You Briskoda Legends 😘

Looks identical...

The LED bulb you can see is aftermarket. You can remove the bulb carrier and transfer it to the new taillight easily :)

Bless you Brother

I’m having palpitations going round in circles on net with this f*+++er

Just like my 2018 superb SEL with "high functionality" LED rear clusters, the OE LED lighting extend only to the red parking/stop lights and are integrated (not replaceable) The Indicator and Reverse are standard filament bulbs. Your car the previous owner fitted LED bulbs in place of the filament bulbs, they certainly look like typical ebay bulbs.

Just take them out and pop in the replacement cluster.

Great news!
So £150 for this eBay one,€115 last week for the eBay German one who doesn’t accept returns and then it’s just the paint work needs fixing, more ££.

More expensive parking outside the house than parking on a red route in Kensington 🤬🤬🤬

Thank you everyone, best forum out there 🥳🥳

Stick your now spare light back on the auction site and maybe advertise it in the parts for sale section here.
