Hi can anyone tell me if the petrol versions of the Mk 3 1.4 have the bonnet insulation factory installed,I have been told this is not installed on petrol models only diesel

Neither my previous 2015 1.4TSI nor my current 2016 1.8TSI had the bonnet insulation - I have also been told that it's only fitted by the factory on diesel models.

 

That said I purchased the bonnet insulation and fittings for both and fitted them myself  - took me less than 15 minutes.

I heard it's to make the noisier diesel engines quiet enough to pass the drive-by noise test that's part of Type Approval, so not needded for the petrol engines.
