Window closing issue.

Featured Replies

(Nb will be reporting back to dealer I bought car from to look at but I’m naturally curious)

front passenger window when closing reopens when it gets to the top.

only way to close it is to nearly close it then nudge it up slowly.

almost feels like an anti finger crush sensor (if fitted) misbehaving.

common issue??

Have you got wind deflectors fitted?

This happens because the anti trap mechanism feels an increased resistance so either something is stuck in the runners, the motor is on its way out or it’s out of alignment.

first I’d check for wind deflectors and check all round the tracks for anything stuck in the runners and rubber seals.

No wind deflectors but will take a look at runners and seals for obstructions later

After this try a recalibration

when the window is all the way up - hold the up button for 5 seconds

do the window down all the way in one motion whilst holding down

hold down for 5 more seconds once all the way down

Does it matter which switch? From the drivers door or from the passenger door?

Throw the problem back at the dealer when I get home. No obstructions in the door seals and that recalibration didn’t seem to do anything.

oh and no DTCs recorded against door or window

Footnote: following a text conversation with the dealer (independent she was bought from) problem solved.

lubricated the top seal with some wd40 and then ran up and down a few times.

He suspects tree sap build up.

Nice and easy then :)

Must admit mines growing a field of moss  by my windows so I probably need to keep an eye on it
