What to do for - Carplay Support & Upgraded Audio

Hey all,

Just picked up a 2013 MK3 Octavia on Tuesday and I've been doing a lot of research. I'm a bit confused on what I need to do to upgrade the default unit to one that supports CarPlay and improves the audio quality. Compared to my VW Scirocco with the Dynaudio Amp Kit, the audio is pretty terrible without an amp.

I have the unit in the glovebox with a CD slot and two SD card slots, but I haven't been able to remove it to get the part numbers. I'm hoping this information is enough for me to find the parts I need to fit myself and then take it to my local guy with access to ODIS to code it correctly.

I have Bluetooth and voice activation, which I think matters, but I'm not too sure.

Regarding the audio upgrade, can you retrofit an amp? Or would a speaker upgrade with the correct unit be enough to handle the audio? Right now, there's zero bass, and when the volume is maxed, the bass seems to turn itself down without actually turning down, which is driving me crazy!

Hello, you can fit a puzu amp.

They have the mib dedicated harness.

For carplay, you may need to change the glovebox unit and usb port.

Hey thanks for this info. Will try this first car play I can live without but my audio lowering every time bass kicks in drives me insane 😂
