Hi,

 

I am new to this forum and a new owner of skoda Octavia. I just noticed that I had about 1 liter of water in the spare wheel well and I also found some water under the back seat cushion (on the right side). Has anyone any suggestions to what it may be and how I can fix it. I have read that the rear light seal is a common problem explaining the water in the well but what could cause the water under the seat ?

 The pictures show where I found water ( about 1 liter in the well) I have removed all and carried the back seat to my apartment to dry. I also found some moist under the rubber carpet on the driver seat floor, not much but some condensation on the rubber part. I also want to mention that the seats and trunk trims feel a bit greasy, my hands are getting a greasy surface.

Lightly talc your rear door seals, then gently but firmly close them. When you open them there should be an even talc mark around the inner seal.

Repeat the exercise with the boot seal. I had a car and the top of the passenger had been pulled out a little and allowed water in during heavy rain.

Thank you! Did you have water in the same places?

I noticed it (after sitting in the car for hours) so all I had was damp carpet .

I wound the window right down and VERY gently pushed the frame then 

repeated the talc test. A body shop is a good idea if you are not too sure.

Putting dry paper in suspect areas can be a useful way of finding leaks.
