SE Technology - Amundsen query

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Im going to look at a 2023 SE technology Superb, which has an Amundsen head unit.

My outgoing car is a 2011 Superb Elegance, which had a Columbus Unit (with CD and SD card).

Does Skoda still use both Amundsen & Columbus?  My impression previously was the Amundsen was more basic, but there was little practical difference, esp for someone like me, who prefers things to be simple and so doesn't tend to use all the bells and whistles in modern cars.

My queries were:

- does the Amundsen in my mooted new car have a smaller screen than a Columbus model (if available)?

- does the Amundsen require an SD card of maps to be permanently inserted?

- the car has Bluetooth and so I presume the Amundsen will talk nice with my Android Phone, wrt music and phone calls?  (I was quite happy with CDs tbh, you know where you are with CDs!)

Thanks a million for any advice

Cheers

- does the Amundsen in my mooted new car have a smaller screen than a Columbus model (if available)? - Yes, it has smaller screen same like Bolero.

- does the Amundsen require an SD card of maps to be permanently inserted? - No, in MIB3 there is no SD card slots, maps DB is inside the headunit.

- the car has Bluetooth and so I presume the Amundsen will talk nice with my Android Phone, wrt music and phone calls?  (I was quite happy with CDs tbh, you know where you are with CDs!) - It has support for wireless Android Auto and that plays very well with Android.
