Ive managed to lose one of my key fobs. How do you go about replacement ?

You can get replacements made at some branches of Timpsons, from mobile key suppliers - or take the hit and get your local dealer to supply and encode one.

Ouch ! Just seen the cost  that will teach me to  be more careful in future

I guess that you don't have key care insurance?

Ebay sellers will clone your existing key for a lot less, IIRC I paid £40 or £50 for two keys cut, programmed and made to work through jiggery-pokery via the OBD port, it was done at the guys house so no photographing keys and worrying if the new one comes through the post, fits the locks and starts the car, it was however a very very dodgy area, the guy disappeared inside what looked like a squat with my only key leaving me wondering "what the feck do I do if he has walked straight out the back door?"

There is a hypothetical security risk that the original missing key might fall into criminal hands and your car be stolen, no risk in my case and its for you to decide on yours.

The main dealer procedure provides a unique key not cloned and prevents the missing one from ever starting the vehicle.

Just checked - £300 to £308 for "Manufacturer Original Remote Key"; £200 for "Non Branded Remote Key"; £99 for "Non Remote Key"

This is for a 2018 Fabia, and many Timson branches don't offer the remote keys. The Boss is checking to see if she can get hers replaced on the car's warranty.

On their website, they claim to be "Up to 50% cheaper than dealership prices".

Yes £50 did not sound right to me judging by what by how much they were ripping people off for a cloned key a few years back.

That's what they quoted me from one of their little shops on a Sainsbury's car park. They remove the electronics from the broken one and put in a new replica housing. Only difference is you wouldn't have the Skoda badge on it

OP had lost a key - so no key available to swap out parts.
