What is sensible ?

Featured Replies

Hello people,

Can I have a few opinions please? I have a 1.4 TDI Fabia. Apart from teething weeks it has been a reliable (and fun) motor. It is now nearing the 60K line. This is the end of the guarantee. I have had expensive and not very good service from the agents and intend to service it myself once out of guarantee. Now the questions.

1. Should I do the 60K service myself and get the cambelt changed at 80K or should I get everything done at 60K and then start as though with a new machine?

2. Has anyone used the Gunson fault finder? Will it clear faults as well as read them?

Any comments welcome.

Thanks

V

I believe the Gunson fault finder reads only. Browse the VAG-COM section of these forums for sources for the V3.11 software that can be used with a cable purchased on EBay.

The software can read and clear fault codes as well as a host of other featureswhich are unlocked if you purchase the fully blown up-to-date version.

All the info you will need is in the VAG-COM section of these forums.

Thanks Goochie, that's the route I'll go.
