Parking light

Featured Replies

Hi!

I tried to search in this forum and on google.

I have a question about the front park light.

When i do activate the parklig posistion on the switch the parklight is bright as hell 😛 They are like the drl´s. I want to make them dim down to a "normal" level.

I have bi-xenon matrix headlights

Welcome.

The 'Parking Lights'   are ignition off, indicator stalk down and one front and rear side light (position light is on)  and one registration light.

Car parked. engine off, maybe nobody in car.

Is it the Side / Position lights.  2 lights to the front that are too bright?

Or indicator stalk UP if parked facing traffic - although that is not legal at night in UK.

Sorry my bad. Down right hand drive car.  Up then maybe left hand drive.

I think you don't understand what I mean.
When I turn on the parking lights on the car at the switch, they shine as brightly as the DRL lights during the day. They do not dim down the brightness. They dim when I activate the fog lights and the low strength strip (DRL) I want when the parking lights are activated. And when it's dark out, this is very annoying

I'm assuming that you mean the 'marker' lights (switch position immediately after 'Auto')  - commonly called side lights, is that correct?

@rloor  Did you buy the car used so do not know what adaptions a previous owner might have done?

Yes the car is previous owned. But they have done nothing special with the software

Something is wrong if DRLs, do not dim when sidelights or headlights are on. Or where sidelights sperate from DRL,s are as bright as DRL,s.   ?  If you do use as PARKING LIGHTS is the single front Side Light as bright as when on as a SIDELIGHT?   That is 2 lights to front and rear.

I wonder did someone code the DRL's to full brightness when full lights are on. And it's using the same dimming value for parking lights.

I know we are talking about cars in different countries using English.     Side lights / position lights / marker lights are not PARKING lights.         The Sidelights are used singularly as PARKING lights though.  Ignition off.  One to front, one to test.  Read the owners manual PARKING Lights.

Yes i did read the owners manual parking light section. But that is just when the ignition is off. I want them to dim when the engine is running. They do dim when i turn on the foglight

The Coding is going to have to be reset or the fault found then.

The Sidelights should be the same brightness if just them on or the dipped beam / full beam headlights are on.
