Hi all, had the flashing glow plug and not so smooth acceleration. Quick scan threw up p0544 andExhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor 1, bank 1 - circuit malfunction. 
 

have a new sensor on the way, just wondering if anyone has managed to replace this without the special vw tool and whether the hot bolt paste is needed or will copper grease do the same job?
