Skoda Felicia with a Gated Shifter?

Featured Replies

In my mind i have a project, to install a gated shifter or slick shift gate.

We all know the ferrari Testarossa style

Here is in reverse with photoshop to suit to the R which in Felicia is in different position.

What say you? It would help the shifting (no error for example from 4th to 3rd in the Highway when aiming for the 5th) and look nice in the console?

Some guys build a ''tower" for this, too much work for me.

The difference between Testarossa and Felicia, among other things, is, that testarrosa doesn't have a meter long sloppy linkage between the gearstick and the gearbox.

Yes, you can put a plate there, but due to play in the linkage and engine movements, the slots won't correspond - Felicias often has problems to fit into rectangle in the center console 😁

Maybe, if you converted the gearbox to cable shift with tight tolerances, (check Octavia AZE or Lupo AHT), you'd have some chance with this idea.

And unless you are looking down at the lever and shifter plate ,instead of watching the road as you should, you could still change to 3rd instead of 5th from 4th as the shifter plate and gear lever have no say in what gears you select  Get the shifter plate positioned just wrong and/or slots not long enough and the lever could pull out of gear on the overrun or a bumpy or sudden bump in the road.

The plate would be for show without real practical use, it won't stop you from doing a wrong gear change.
