Updating Map database from USB Drive

Featured Replies

Question for those who have done this procedure.....

I have downloaded the latest map database from Skoda, unpacked the files and placed all of these on the top level of an ExFat formatted USB drive (MicroSD Card inserted into USB-C adapter).  I know the adaptor and card work with the car as successfully updated Infotainment software from 1941 to 1969.

I note that in the first couple of minutes of starting the car, there is some USB activity (LED light flashes on USB) but then for the remainder of the journey, there is no USB activity at all.  I imagined I might see some USB activity, then none while the system updated certain files, more activity, and repeat.  Any ideas or guidance on this - should I just leave it to do its thing and after a week or so the map updates will be complete?

Is it not all online? I thought that’s why they made you pay for the subscription.

You can update the maps manually without paying for the subscription, however you obviously won’t get live traffic and POI’s.

I generally use Tom Tom Go and Waze via CarPlay but good to keep the in-built maps up-to-date as a backup.  If you simply want to keep the database up-to-date then goto this link.
