2006 octavia FSI - airbag warning

Featured Replies

my diagnostic gizmo shows

DTC 01221 - side airbag sensor , drivers side.

G179 open circuit / short to plus.

I have checked the usual connectors & wiring under the seat etc  for faults.

Where is the impact sensor  located? is it in the door or body?

Any help gratefully will be much appreciated

In door, so very likely to be a broken wire in door loom near A-pillar.

Thanks Pete, I previously had door lock problems with a fabia caused by the door loom wiring so I should have guessed.

cheers

Hi Pete, it was exactly as you stated. The yellow wire to/from the sensor looked like it had been chopped in the cable bundle from the body to the door.

I patched in a new piece, flushed the memory and hey presto no more fault code or airbag light.

Today it passed its MOT.

Many thanks   👍😁

Not sure under trays inhibit corrosion as they are not sealed or making a vacuum.

H2o and air still gets to the metal.  Maybe not so much mud or moisture though.

The under trays to keep stuff hidden right enough.  Out of sight out of mind..

Hi,

I had the same issue today, I put the broken wires back together and still the issue persists. Did it work for you before resetting the fault? Cheers
