First anniversary review

Featured Replies

Just returned from my trip to visit family in Scotland.

Reason for posting is simply an update on how I feel about this car in light of the fact that yesterday was its first anniversary.

On the way there I clocked up 4,000 miles.

250 mile round trip from Tyne Tunnel through A19 and A1 to Edinburgh so covering all speed options through 30/50/60//70 roads.

Turned in a very healthy 59 MPG using onboard trip computer. I always use this although most will say that it gives a false reading but, to me, the point is I always compare it to itself so I can judge whether there are any changes in performance.

Had first official service a couple of weeks back and everything is healthy.

Part way through the year I invested in a space saver wheel from The Wheel Shop (great deal) and more recently got a set of fitted mats from Official Car Mats which were a great price and perfect fit.

Summing up, overall, I still absolutely love this car.

The driving experience is so comfortable and the fuel economy for an automatic is super.

The DSG gearbox is a total dream and that tiny 3 pot engine just rides through everything. Never feels underpowered even with a full load.

My previous 1 month and 6 month reviews said just about everything and none of that has changed.

Still the only complaints I have are the stupid and pointless nag screen that comes up ever time you start and the sadly disappointing infotainment system which I hardly use now except for radio and the maps through Android Auto.

Great car all round and would recommend to anyone on the lookout.

 - Similarly when I had my Octy.

Good to hear you are still enjoying the car.

I'm with you as regards checking the fuel consumption. I used to keep a record of miles from each fill up when I did higher mileages but I just look at the car's display out of interest nowadays and to see what the highest average it can give on a run.
