Have a VRS estate and wondered what roof bars / box people have for theirs or what they’d recommend?

I have: 

 

Thule Wing Bars. I can vouch that they are very quiet as aerodynamic. 

 

Roof box:  Kamei Delphin 340 box with - T Track fitting. This allows the box to slide on and off the roof bars really easily as they have a slot down the middle. 

 

It's a good sized box with the estate for my family of four.

Cruz Airo bars and Kamei Husky XXL 510 litre again with T-track fittings. Pretty quiet, makes a difference from 51 mpg to 45 mpg on the motorway.

Whatever you go for, measure/work out the height with it on the car for low car parks etc...

Thule Wing Bars and 900 roof box when I had an estate.

 

Just changed the feet on the roof bars now I have a hatchback.

as @Cakemonster mentions, fuel consumption reduces significantly with a box on the roof. I tend to drop my speed somewhat on the motorway journeys and drive for economy. Also, once at my holiday location, I remove the box (provided I can an store it safely)  as once unloaded its not needed travelling around between place. 

 

The Roof Box company are excellent to deal with, and have very good products to suit all budgets.

Both my bars and box were "returns" from The Roofbox Co. and were usefully cheaper 

Was just going to recommend The Roofbox Co. as well.  They've been very helpful over the years and still provide the personal touch if you call them up to check something.  Car Roof Boxes | Bike Racks | Roof Bars - The Roof Box Company

 

Currently have the Thule wing bars combined with a Kamei Corvara roof box, which is now discontinued but an excellent piece of kit: KAMEI Corvara S 475 carbon grey roof box no. KM538 (0 81538 21).  I've found the duolift feature is very useful, being able to open the box from either side to access things.

 

You may find it useful to check out the website as they have a number of combined packages for bars and roof boxes purchased together.

 

Can also recommend one of these as a bike carrier mounted on the tow hook,  Capable of carrying four bikes, rather than the more usual 3, and cleverly tips out of the way of the estate boot hatch to let the dogs in and out without the need to unload everything.
