Clutch problems

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have an intermittent fault with my clutch. 2013 1.4 TSi Octavia hatchback, hydraulic clutch.

The clutch pedal occasionally decides to move itself a couple of inches closer to the floor. I can still get enough movement to change gear, and if I hook my foot under the clutch and lift it 'pops' back into its normal place.

Fluid level is fine, never had any issues with leaks etc in the past.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

Cheers!

Autocorrect!

Air being drawn into the O ring joint within the bellhousing for the concentric slave cylinder.

Each time you lift the pedal you draw more air in but I appreciate that you have little choice.

Bleeding (a very simple operation done by hand in a few seconds without tools using gravity) will make the system work again but the problem will recur and the interval between bleeding will get shorter and shorter.

The only proper solution is to remove the gearbox and replace the slave cylinder and clutch assembly while you are there.

I lived with it until I could go no more than 5 miles in urban traffic before losing the clutch again.

Thank you. I don't believe I have a concentric slave cylinder so presumably a little easier to sort out?

Do you have a 6 speed gearbox?

Yes, I do

I've this exact problem on a 2017 2.0 TDI Octavia, 6-speed.

For me it happens very occasionally. I might have to pop it back out after starting and it mightn't happen again for hours or days.

Then AFAIK you have the problematic concentric slave cylinder.

Hi, I would like to attatched to this topic. I have drive octavia 3 with 1.4 tsi 140 hp engine code chpa. I have bought it with 162kkm mileage. Last days when it is more cold outside my clutch seems to works worse when engine is cold. When I unpress it while running the car it's like noisy and add vibrations to the car, when engine is hot there is not such a sympthome. Also it is not sliperry when its run at high speed and torque. Anyone here has changed clutch in this specific car ? What would you advise ? Run till it's end of clutch, or change it sooner ? Will this affect other parts of drive system ? I'll be glad of any replay.
